- Operate mobile and tower cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials
- Clean and lubricate cranes
- Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades
- Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures
- Instruct apprentices
- Mix, pour and spread materials
- Operate cranes equipped with dredging attachments to dredge waterways and other areas
- Assist heavy equipment operators
- Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction
- Level earth to fine grade specifications
