Work Arrangements
The Communications Department is currently seeking to expand its list of Contract Instructors qualified to teach courses in Professional Communication.
The department is interested in expanding its list of qualified instructors for the following courses:
    • CMNS 3400 Document Design • CMNS 3401 Visual Communication • CMNS 3501 Writing and Creating Websites • CMNS 3502 Social Media and Reputation Management • CMNS 3700 Strategic Public Relations
Workload is assigned each semester based on available sections. We anticipate some work will be available for the Summer 2024 semester, beginning May 1, 2024.

The Role
Contract Instructor in Professional Communication
Responsibilities
As a Contract Instructor in Professional Communication, you will be responsible for:
    •developing course outlines following the Curriculum Guidelines, •selecting appropriate textbooks and creating teaching materials, •delivering quality learner-centred instruction in the course subject area, •designing assignments and assessment criteria, •evaluating student progress, •holding regular office hours, and •maintaining currency in the field through regular professional development.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
Successful applicants will have:
    •a minimum of a Master's degree in Professional Communication or related field, •a minimum of two years of experience teaching courses at the post-secondary level, •experience teaching domestic and international students with a variety of linguistic abilities and cultural knowledge, •the ability to work collaboratively in a collegial and respectful manner, and •demonstrated commitment to administrative tasks.
For those seeking to be qualified to teach courses in document design ( CMNS 3400, 3401):
    •experience teaching design software in a computer lab, •document design experience in the professional workplace, •the ability to apply visual communication theory to document design, •experience with print production and digital delivery.
For those seeking to be qualified to teach web design and writing ( CMNS 3501):
    •experience teaching web design software in a computer lab, •a record of success as a web writer and designer in a professional workplace.
For those seeking to be qualified to teach social media and reputation management ( CMNS 3502)
    •experience teaching social media communications /marketing, •professional experience managing social media accounts on behalf of a client or employer.
For those seeking to be qualified to teach public relations ( CMNS 3700)
    •experience engaging media on behalf of a client or employer, •experience developing and managing public relations campaigns, •professional experience managing public relations issues on behalf of a client or employer.
Membership and active participation in relevant professional associations is considered an asset.
