We are looking for a Controller to support our Aggregates & Construction Divisionat our Walker - Head Office location.
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the incumbent provides accurate and timely financial information and analysis to senior management, executives and other stakeholders. The incumbent also provides in-depth analysis of financial results and ensures financial information is collected and reported in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for private enterprises ("ASPE"). The position will also have functional responsibility and an indirect reporting relationship to the Executive Vice-President, AGGCON to provide financial support to the Senior Management Team and Divisional operations.
Responsibilities
- Directs and reviews the completion of monthly divisional financial statements and prepares consolidated financial statements and reports as well as quarterly financial reports for the Board of Directors.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for private enterprises ("ASPE") and other relevant regulations.
- Provide accurate and timely financial information and variance analysis to senior management, executives, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the maintenance of all general and subsidiary ledger accounts to ensure the integrity of financial information gathered and reported.
- Support the business unit by advising on accounting and finance issues related to current matters and future opportunities and provide support to cross-functional teams, as appropriate.
- Coordinate and assist in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, planning processes, and forecasting to help senior management analyze anticipated financial results.
- Prepare year-end working paper files and supporting documentation for the annual audited financial statements and corporate tax returns.
- Prepare annual corporate tax returns and estimates for the annual year-end.
- Develop a team through active coaching and mentoring, setting objectives, and developing talent to maintain and enhance competency levels. Identify future training requirements and design goals to increase performance.
- Provide leadership, support, and guidance to Finance staff and indirectly operational staff, ensuring that effective controls are maintained within the ERP system.

Education & Job Knowledge
University Degree (Commerce, Business Administration or equivalent) and a CPA designation.
Experience
Greater than seven years but less than or equal to ten years of accounting / supervisory experience.
