The Controller is responsible for the development and management of financial operations and policies based on the collection of financial and management information. As such, the Controller will implement and oversee financial control measures to identify and monitor standards and performance, and to communicate results, advice, and options. A key area of this role is to work directly with the executive/management team to lead and manage the AP, AR and Payroll teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds for operational needs.
• Work with payables and AP and AR teams to develop cash forecasts.
• Review payment forecasts provided by Accounts Payable Supervisor for bi-weekly vendor payment runs.
• Implement cash management policies to safeguard company assets.
• Work with teams to develop and improve processes for AP, AR and Payroll.
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Coordinate and manage monthly financial cut-off per financial close checklist/calendar.
• Manage closure of accounting system modules (Job Cost, General Ledger, Contract).
• Review and approve intercompany and general ledger entries.
• Coordinate reconciliation of key General Ledger accounts and non-reporting jobs.
• Supervise and mentor AP, AR and Payroll teams.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Conduct performance evaluations and identify opportunities for professional development.
• Analyze company overhead and provide insights to senior management on possible cost reductions.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in Business and professional accounting designation with extensive (4-6 years) financial experience.
• Ability and willingness to lead people. People leadership and management experience will be a definite asset.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills - demonstrates good initiative
• Ability and willingness to learn and develop professionally and personally
• Ability to work in an office and field environment and maintain excellent working relationships with others.
• Team player, energetic, resourceful
• Willingness to commit to continuous learning.
• Well organized with an ability to pay attention to detail.
• Effective communicator with the ability to develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
• Sense of urgency and drive to succeed, must be comfortable working within a deadline driven, fast paced environment.
• Resourceful, energetic and able to manage multiple priorities.
• NetSuite experience a plus, or previous experience with ERP management
