Job description

Riverview Home Corporation is seeking applications for a Coordinator of Community Development.

POSITION SCOPE:

Working as a senior member of Riverview’s management team, the Coordinator of Community Development is responsible for the transition and inclusion of our residents in our community and for the development and delivery of activities, based on choice and supported decision at an individual level, of recreation activities, pre-employment and education, and employment options.

The Coordinator of Community Development is responsible for the overall leadership of the Riverview Home Volunteer program, and the oversight of the coordination of volunteers and community events to promote community involvement. This position acts as a liaison with the Department of Community Services, Care Coordinators, Group Home Supervisors, ILS Coordinator, and all other parties directly involved in Riverview’s future developments.

The Coordinator of Community Development will oversee activity programs and goal setting in accordance with Riverview Home’s Mission, Vision, Values as well as planning for the outcomes set out in the Remedy report, to deliver meaningful lives for people with diverse abilities.

This position reports to the Director of Residential Supports.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The principal responsibilities of the Supervisor of Community Development are:

a. Provide thoughtful leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering in a manner that guides and facilitates the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

b. Provide leadership and direction with the employee team to deliver community integration, lifestyles, and contribute to the vocational operational planning process, ensuring delivery of person directed programs throughout based on participant preferences.

c. Provide leadership in the development planning and delivery of specific community-based growth initiatives ensuring ARC residents are prepared for transitioning into the community.

d. Support transformational growth for residents with opportunities in Riverview’s social enterprises.

e. Lead and support grant exploration and applications as required.

f. Oversight and administration of the organization’s website.

g. Ensuring that performance reviews are completed annually within scope.

h. Provide input into the Corporation’s strategic planning and budgeting processes.

i. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residential Supports

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

a. 5+ years working in a senior leadership role.

b. Experience in financial management of programs with the ability to prepare budgets, and forecast expenditures, and vision development or expansion.

c. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

d. Strong community outreach skills

e. Strong computer skills

Special Knowledge and Skills:

a. Current or recent experience in supporting people with mental health illness.

b. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

c. Ability to work independently or as part of a healthy team.

d. Empathy, innovation, and the ability to motivate people.

JUDGEMENT AND INITIATVE REQUIRED:

Must display good judgement in the managing of staff and solving problems. Must show initiative in anticipating problems and take corrective action.

TYPE AND LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Must be able to provide leadership and direct supervision to participant and employee groups, work collaboratively with other members of the Riverview Home team and assist in the orientation of new staff, students, and volunteers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Supervisory (sitting, walking, standing); however, some increased physical activity may be required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Well-lighted, warm environment. However, it may be necessary to work outside even in inclement weather.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Residents’ diagnoses and symptoms demand complete knowledge and application of the MANDT philosophy and system. Must have empathy for persons with disabilities. Must be able to work cooperatively with all levels of employees from all departments. Must be able to foster and maintain harmonious relationships with outside organizations, groups, and individuals. Honesty, integrity, and willingness to lead the remedy report are essential. In a Supervisory role, you are sometimes required to work outside normal working hours due to operational requirements. This includes attending events after hours, or on weekends and occasional a shift or audit outside of normal working hours.
