JOB DESCRIPTION

The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for a contract position of Corporate Training Specialist in the Human Resources Division of the Corporate Services Department for a three-year contract.

DUTIES

  • Work with managers and supervisors to create and maintain training matrices for all positions throughout the Corporation.
  • Undertake regular reviews of training curriculum and update as required to ensure effective delivery, adherence to legislation and safe work practices.
  • Develop new training materials related to manufacturer’s specifications and operational/maintenance procedures, corporate and regulatory standards, and objectives as required.
  • Plan, schedule, develop, and deliver training sessions to meet each department’s training needs.
  • Develop and deliver Corporate Training sessions as required to ensure the Corporation meets its due diligence requirements as stipulated in the legislation and regulations.
  • Enter all training records into the Human Resources Information System database so that they may be retrieved when required for due diligence purposes.
  • When necessary, contact and schedule third-party trainers to deliver training.
  • Conduct periodic audits of training records to ensure all mandatory training is provided to all employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma in business administration, occupational health and safety or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of related work experience pertaining to training in construction, industrial or municipal environments.
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee certification is required.
  • Experience with teaching and training adults is considered an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Highway Traffic Act, and any other relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, coaching, time management, strategic planning, and management skills.
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, e-mail and the internet.
  • An ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a valid class ‘G’ Ontario’s driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check is required for this position at the incumbent’s expense, prior to the commencement date.

Compensation for this position is $85,021 to $99,463 (2024 rates under review) per hour for a 35-hour work week. Applications will be accepted until January 12, 2024, at noon.
