What can I expect to do in this role?
You will:• lead, manager and coordinate responses to multiple land use planning applications and development proposals
• ensure compatibility with government legislation, ministry policies, standards and objectives that impact on the provincial highway network
• provide specialized advice to a wide range of external and internal stakeholders on transportation matters related to land use planning applications
• identify, negotiate and recommend terms and conditions for agreements related to developer-driven highway improvements
• work effectively with external stakeholders such as municipalities and developers
• lead and coordinate requests for highway designations, transfers, assumptions, revocations, removals and closings
PLEASE NOTE that this position requires frequent travel within central Ontario to view properties and meet with various stakeholders.
How do I qualify?
Mandatory
• This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's licence upon being hired.Technical Knowledge
You have:• Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of land use planning in order to review and assess the impact of development proposals on the provincial highway network
• Demonstrated knowledge of provincial legislation, such as the Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act and the Planning Act
• Knowledge of traffic operations, drainage, highway design and construction
• Ability to interpret and apply highway and construction plans, reports, and site plans
