Saskatchewan Blue Cross®, one of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers, is currently recruiting for a full-time permanent Creative Specialist to join our team in the Marketing department. This position offers the flexibility to be in-office or participate in hybrid options in our Saskatoon or Regina office.


JOB FUNCTION

Reporting directly to the Manager, Marketing, the role of the Creative Specialist will work with stakeholders from Saskatchewan Blue Cross and peers in Marketing to create and design innovative marketing campaigns, brand assets, and engaging content that attracts a range of audiences. The Creative Specialist is an exceptional listener, a team player, able to accept and apply feedback, who thrives in a deadline driven environment with objectives to drive growth, retention, and loyalty, in alignment with Saskatchewan Blue Cross business objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish creative direction aligned with brand standards and vision, assisting with brand management, brand integrity, trademark compliance, and best practice brand research
  • Creatively communicate ideas and concepts that visually inspire, inform, and captivate consumers
  • Create, design, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment, in line with best practices and industry standards through planning, concept, preparation, and delivery of final artwork across mediums including websites, social media platforms, video, email marketing & communications, multimedia presentations, infographics, tradeshow booths, sales collateral and presentations, print, and retouching and manipulation of images
  • Actively participate in the development of Brand and Marketing strategies, supports planning the creative direction of marketing annual objectives and corporate projects and initiatives, including supporting the development of campaigns, go-to-market programs for new and existing products, and collaborating with external agencies and partners as necessary
  • Review performance results regularly with Marketing peers, and regularly optimize advertising creative to ensure targeted audiences respond
  • Work with internal stakeholders to plan and deliver on mutually agreed design direction, production, and timescales
  • Develop an innate understanding of target audiences and potential digital points of contact
  • Manage and maintain an asset library for Saskatchewan Blue Cross, including photography, B-roll footage, identity assets, and video content
  • Ensure that the Saskatchewan Blue Cross brand is effectively and consistently integrated within all marketing and communications initiatives, channels, and programs directed both internally and externally
  • Research emerging media, new trends, and best practices and propose new directions to drive growth and engagement
  • Understand, compare, and summarize competitive creative trends
  • Recognize inter-relationships and how changes may impact others when developing solutions
  • Network to promote our brand and build relationships externally
  • Participate in and represent the department on various internal and/or external committees or initiatives as required
  • Provide subject matter expertise and answer inquiries regarding Saskatchewan Blue Cross products and services
  • Demonstrate a willingness to question traditional approaches and solutions
  • Remain current with company and industry product and service offerings
  • Perform various other projects on an as-requested basis and other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Art Design, Marketing, or certification in related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required
  • 3-5 years of related progressive experience; portfolio required
  • Proven knowledge of graphic design and digital design concepts, principles, strategy, trends, and best practices
  • Proficient in digital marketing, content trafficking, and online digital design testing principles
  • Experience working in CRM software, website CMS, marketing automation software, mass email automation tools and social media platforms and publishing software (i.e. Sprout Social, email publishing)
  • Working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office 365 suite
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, UX principles, print design principles, image editing, video editing and photography required
  • Working knowledge of CSS, HTML and JavaScript preferred
  • Demonstrable experience with integrated marketing and communications campaigns
  • Understanding of the principles and best practices of digital design and graphic design with working knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print and online
  • Outstanding relationship skills, exhibits high empathy, treating others with respect and dignity
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong visual communicator with demonstrated experience visually engaging a variety of audiences through design
  • Project management skills considered an asset
  • Understanding of the insurance and/or health care industry considered an asset
  • Commitment to ongoing personal development with willingness to participate in industry training
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a background check
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on an unrestricted basis
