Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure a culture of high quality customer service for both internal and external customers.
Treat all animals humanely and respectfully at all times; display kindness, compassion and empathy for both
people and animals.
Receive deceased animals from members of the public and/or commercial clients. Travel in a work provided vehicle may be required.
Collect deceased animals from members of the public and/or commercial clients.
Safely operate the crematorium and associated machinery, and prepare cremains for return to clients.
Ensure that cremains are returned to clients in a timely, efficient and well presented manner.
Problem-solve and think creatively to provide a positive outcome for clients. Diffuse conflict when necessary.
Ensure all required supplies are well stocked for cremation services.
Monitor and maintain the crematorium machinery as per manufacturer standards.
Maintenance of accurate and timely records/photographs (when required) of interactions with the public and/or
animals.
Compliance with the rules of operation, policies and procedures established by the organization.
Maintaining a high level of professional and respectful communication and co-operation with all other PAW staff, the public, volunteers, clients and customers.
Follow all end of day procedures, ensuring that the building is suitably secured and alarmed prior to leaving the building empty of all personnel.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Assist Maintenance personnel at such times where primary duties are not required.
Assist the Animal Care Team where primary duties are not required.
Support outreach and offsite adoption events.
Assisting with the onboarding of new employees, providing support in the form of mentoring as needed.
Ensuring progress towards completion of SMART goals assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and competencies:
Experience working with a commercial crematorium preferred.
Knowledge of customer service principles which establish a positive customer experience is required.
Logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods and the use and care of cleaning materials preferred.
The ability to learn and effectively use Pet Point, the shelter database is preferred.
A Class 5 driving license is required.
High school diploma preferred.
Experience in close working teams preferred.
Thorough knowledge of PAW policies and procedures is required.
Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Experience working with animals and knowledge of animal behavior is preferred.
Physically fit, able to manipulate/move large dogs and other heavy items is required. Frequent handling of materials up to 50lbs, often lifting and carrying items up to 75lbs.

Salary: $15.55-$17.28 per hour
