The Crew Scheduling OPS Resolution Manager is responsible for conducting investigations and reporting on findings from all passenger claims and Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) cases associated with crewing. This role ensures the reconciliation of Crew Scheduling based flight safety, administrative and operational reports. This role is also responsible for managing the review of internal scheduling reports surrounding Crew Scheduling’s ongoing compliance with Canadian Air Regulations (CARs), labour agreements and company policy, and to identify and provide recommendations derived from findings and the administration of resolutions following the conclusion of operational claims & grievances.

Accountabilities (Responsibilities):

  • Conduct the analysis on Crew Scheduling Day of Flight (DOF) operational recovery and planning to support and manage the correspondence with Legal and other branches regarding Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) investigations involving flight crew operations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on crewing to assist internal customer investigations (Legal, Customer Relations, Operations) by clarifying the rationale and objectives behind Crew Scheduling’s operational decision-making in DOF and provide relevant data and evidence to support the decision-making process by making the necessary connections with overlapping subject matter among the different areas of the operation.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, including Maintenance, Dispatch, Airports, and SOC teams, to understand operational frameworks and ensure compliance with aviation regulations worldwide.
  • Participate in briefings, meetings, hearings and serve as a crewing designate for affidavits and witness statements associated with CTA cases and legal proceedings as required.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to provide relevant information pertaining to cases that become litigated, along with results of internal investigations, involving considerable explanation of facts.
    Investigate past and present operational events to provide feedback on flight safety & operational matters identified in reports issued to Crew Scheduling for review.
  • Provide feedback on Crew Scheduling’s application of scheduling SOPs, the Collective Agreement, safety soft rules and CARs to support the reconciliation steps for claims and grievances. 
  • Monitor trends and identify opportunities as part of the continuous improvement processes regarding regular compliance.
  • Manage the effective communication to Crew Scheduling on significant trends identified in reporting as well as the correspondence with the different business units and external customers.
  • Produce recommendations on scheduling resources derived from resolutions at the conclusion of an investigation and manage the necessary documentation.
  • Participate in routine and ad hoc operational reviews and teleconferences representing Crew Scheduling operational discussions concerning document management and operational follow-ups.
  • Ensure timely and consistent communication on all open cases with program stakeholders.
  • Create and manage a repository for all case incidents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in relevant field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum 2 years of Crew Scheduling or similar experience.
  • Experience in Aviation Operations is an asset.
  • Experience with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Crew Scheduling and Operations systems are an asset.
  • A demonstrated ability to make effective decisions in an environment of high pressure and stress.
  • A demonstrated ability to multitask and work with different deadlines.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently or in a group with little direction.
  • Available to work flexible and varied shifts when required.

Working Conditions:

The position is office-based, working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Possible exposure to mild unpleasant or disagreeable conditions related to flight disruptions.
