Job description

Crisis Line Coordinator

  • The Sexual Assault Centre of Brant is a feminist, equity-seeking organization which seeks to create healing and change in our community.
  • The Crisis Line Coordinator is responsible for the administration, training, and new initiatives of SAC Brant's 24/7 Crisis & Support Line.
  • The position will be 30 hours per week for $35 per hour, and it is a contract position for 14 months, with the possibility of continuation contingent on funding.
  • Work week configuration is negotiable, but will require weekday, day-time availability and limited early evenings and weekends. This is a hybrid position with a mixture of WFH days and in-office workdays, from our office in Brantford.
  • We hope the successful candidate will be able to start this position in April 2024.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Supervise the crisis phone line and online chat, including team scheduling, payroll and communication
  • Provide Crisis Line coverage 3 days a week, as well as on-call relief when needed
  • Conduct research into various Crisis Line models and work alongside the Executive Director to explore potential new ways to operate the Crisis Line
  • Recruit, hire, and train new Crisis Line staff
  • Help SAC Brant staff to respond to recent changes to the way we operate our Crisis Line, and explore changes still to come
  • Work with other members of the team to develop and implement a plan to promote the Crisis Line

What you offer:

  • Experience with program design, evaluation, and planning.
  • Ability to research, and analyze and interpret data.
  • A feminist analysis of sexual violence; this analysis includes understanding the way that age, ability, race, indigeneity, gender, queerness and trans-ness impact experiences of violence and support- seeking.
  • A commitment to working within an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and decolonial framework.
  • The ability to respond to multi-faceted demands, to rely upon your own initiative and to work with minimal supervision in a crisis-response environment. (You thrive in chaos, but do not add to it).

Applications must be received by April 1st, 2024 at 4 p.m.

We realize this position requires a unique mix of administrative and direct service skills, and we are willing to provide support in both areas. Please make sure your resume highlights your experience with each aspect. We’re hoping to find someone whose values align with ours and who is committed to learning and doing the work. If that sounds like you, but your skills don’t map directly onto what we’re looking for, we’re still interested in hearing from you! Let us know what you’d bring to the team, and why you’re the right fit for this job.

The hiring team would love to hear from QTBIPOC, newcomers, and people with disabilities. SAC Brant is committed to employment equity and building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. Recruitment-related accommodations for persons with disabilities are available on request.

All applications are appreciated, however only those candidates being interviewed will be contacted.
