Position Overview

The Crisis Support Worker, Overnight Shift Rotation reports to and is responsible to the Director of Residential Programs on all aspects concerning the residents and the physical operations of the Interval Home. This role will provide consistent coverage for overnight Emergency Shelter shifts, 11:00pm-7:00am. The position’s hours are Sunday to Wednesday at 32 hours a week, with the flexibility to pick up extra hours if needed. Day time hours may be required as requested by Director.

JOB DESCRIPTION

-The Crisis Support Worker is responsible for meeting the varied needs of the residents of the Lloydminster Interval Home.

-Deals firsthand with crisis situations

-Telephone Assessments

-Determines the physical and mental needs of the resident

-Records accurate information in files, on computer, and with regards to other forms of reporting

-Orientates residents to the Shelter

-Maintains confidentiality and high professional standards

-Makes referrals for clients

-Assists clients with safety plans and case plans

-Responsible for maintaining a high standard of health and cleanliness and safety within the Home.

-Coordinates and completes daily household duties

-Coordinates and assists in meal preparation, cleaning of rooms, general house cleaning, house laundry and gardening and maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Knowledge:

  • A two-year diploma in a social science field is preferred, but a combination of related training and experience will be considered.
  • Excellent knowledge of the issue of family violence is preferred
  • A valid driver's license combined with a clean driving record is a must
  • Computer skills are essential
  • A commitment to professionalism in the workplace is also a must

Experience:

  • Previous experience in providing Crisis Support either in person or on the phone.
  • Previous experience working in an emergency shelter, mobile crisis unit, crisis centre, or group home would be an asset

  • The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a team environment.
  • This individual must possess common-sense decision-making skills and confidence in problem solving
  • The ability to work effectively and efficiently in an ever changing, high stress environment is essential.

  • This individual must be friendly, energetic, multi-task oriented and possess a positive attitude and possess a willingness to help wherever needed.
