Our Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) site located near Pinawa, Manitoba is looking for a Culture & Employee Experience Officerfor the WL Restoration Project department. The Culture & Employee Experience Officer holds a pivotal position within the organization, responsible for cultivating a positive work environment and facilitating the successful execution of cultural transformation initiatives. The primary role of the Officer is to spearhead rebranding efforts and internal communications ensuring clarity and consistency in messaging to support the organization's evolving mission and vision and maintain employee morale. Additionally, the role includes fostering cultural transformation through coordinating activities aimed at site-wide engagement and evolution. This position may work remotely but must be willing to be on site (Pinawa) 75-100% of the time or more depending on the project and employee need.

What will you be doing?

Employee Experience Enhancement:

  • Designing and implementing initiatives to enhance the overall Employee Experience and engagement.
  • Developing programs to promote a positive work environment, foster inclusivity, and support employee well-being.

Internal Communication:

  • Developing and executing comprehensive internal communication strategies to effectively disseminate information to employees.
  • Creating engaging content for various communication channels, including newsletters, intranet, and email communications.
  • Facilitating two-way communication channels to encourage feedback, transparency, and dialogue among employees and leadership.

Employee Feedback and Engagement:

  • Implementing mechanisms to gather employee feedback on culture, communication, and overall Employee Experience.
  • Analyzing feedback data to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.
  • Developing and executing action plans based on feedback to address concerns and enhance employee engagement.

Brand Management:

  • Ensuring consistency in brand messaging and representation across all internal communication channels.
  • Upholding and promoting the organization's brand values and identity in all communication efforts.

Event Coordination:

  • Planning, coordinating, and executing internal events such as team-building activities, town hall meetings, and cultural celebrations.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to determine event objectives, themes, and logistics.
  • Managing event budgets, vendors, and resources to ensure successful execution.
  • Coordinating activities aimed at fostering cultural transformation within the organization.
  • Plan and execute events, initiatives, and programs designed to promote employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Celebrating Success:

  • Developing and implementing strategies to recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements within the organization.
  • Planning and coordinating recognition events, ceremonies, or programs to acknowledge outstanding contributions and milestones.
  • Collaborating with department heads and team leaders to identify success stories and promote a culture of appreciation and recognition.
  • Creating a system for regularly highlighting and sharing success stories across the organization, both internally and externally.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of recognition initiatives and make adjustments as needed to ensure ongoing motivation and morale among employees.

Onboarding Support:

  • Playing an active role in the onboarding process for new employees joining the organization, working closely with HR and hiring managers to facilitate a seamless transition.
  • Collaborating with HR to integrate messaging about the organization's culture and values into the onboarding experience.
  • Promoting CNL's culture and identity to new employees, emphasizing our commitment to safety.
  • Serving as an ambassador for CNL's culture and values during the onboarding process, sharing insights and anecdotes that highlight the unique aspects of our organization.
  • Fostering a sense of belonging and connection among new hires.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
  • Willing to perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Gather feedback, analyze data, and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about emerging communication trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of employee engagement principles and strategies to enhance employee motivation, satisfaction, and commitment.
  • Display understanding of key concepts and principles related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and their impact on organizational culture and performance.

Experience

  • Five (5)+ years of experience in a related field such as communication, culture transformation, or human resources.
  • Experience leading internal communication efforts, particularly during periods of organizational transition or rebranding.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing cultural transformation initiatives within organizations.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive cultural alignment and integration across various departments.
  • Experience in coordinating cultural transformation activities or similar initiatives is a plus. This entails planning and executing events, fostering employee engagement, and promoting a positive organizational culture.

Education

  • Diploma in human resources management, organizational psychology, business administration, or related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and five (5)+ years of experience may be considered.
  • Relevant certifications or professional development courses in employee engagement, organizational culture, change management, and communication strategies, an asset.

Security clearance eligibility requirement
Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.

Working Conditions:
