Using detailed specifications provided, you will use your building, mathematical and assembly skills to create cabinets that meet very specific guidelines and high standards. You’ll work alongside the other members of our building team to create high end Kitchen components. Key Responsibilities for an EXPERIENCED Custom Cabinet maker:
- Construct and assemble cabinet components, making sure that all pieces fit the dimensions specified to accurately complete the required task
- Verify and double check all calculations to ensure alignment of doors, hinges, side panels, etc. using blueprints or design plans for reference.
- Be exact in measurements and markings so that materials will be used efficiently, and the projects will meet budgetary restrictions.
- Estimate and gather materials required for production.
- Match materials and grains to create a uniform appearance for all the matching units.
· Install the appropriate hardware, such as hinges and handles and interior accessories and pocket doors, and order replacement materials when needed.
· Use shapers and table saws, planers, jointers , bandsaw , hinge drill machines , pin and screw guns, lamello , sliding tables saws , shapers, measuring tapes and electronic equipment to accurately measure wood for cutting and shaping.
- Reinforce joints and attachments to maximize sturdiness and durability without compromising aesthetic appeal or functionality.
- Install the appropriate hardware, such as hinges and handles, and order replacement materials when needed.
- Use shapers and table saws, rulers, measuring tapes and electronic equipment to accurately measure wood for cutting and shaping.
- Ensure excellent fit, finish and operability.
- Sand, detail and finish assembled materials.
- Clean and maintain all equipment necessary for your work, including handsaws, table saws, skill saws, and a variety of drills and sanding tools
- Maintain a safe working environment by cleaning and disposing of old materials, such as nails and screws.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5+ years experience as a Custom Cabinet Maker. (Required)
- Post-secondary diploma or certification in a related field. (Preferred)
- Current Journey Person’s Cabinet Maker’s Certificate. (Preferred)
- Certificate of Apprenticeship, Cabinet Maker. (Preferred)
- Knowledge of carpentry within in the kitchen, millwork industry.
- Knowledge of safe operation of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprint drawings and work orders.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
