Job description

This position is responsible for advising on day-to-day import and export compliance activities including responding to phone and email inquiries; problem solving; aiding in interpretation and dissemination of regulatory changes; developing structured compliance protocols; tracking international shipments; assisting in import and export compliance rule-set development and maintenance; and assisting in general training and awareness.

Since global trade regulations affect the global activities of each operating group, the actions of the individual in this position will impact the entire corporation. Affected activities will include: import, export and re-export of commodities between foreign company locations, distributors and customers; anti-boycott compliance; sanctions policies; Incoterms, and power of attorney and broker/forwarder management.

Exporting volume constitutes a large percentage of Armacell Canada’s sales and involves thousands of products. Compliance in this area is mandatory. This position will interface with all internal organizations, including, but not limited to: Business Areas, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and R&D.

Uphold Supply Chain World Class Manufacturing activities through implementation and coordination of all Supply Chain WAM initiatives/projects to enhance the organization’s effectiveness. This position entails direct interaction with all levels of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

· Act as an advisor to Armacell Canada on Trade Compliance including Armacell Canada exports and US imports.

· Ensure full compliance and timely resolution for the assignment of HTS classifications for import and export shipments.

· Subject matter expert on Canadian and US Customs valuation.

· Collect, analyze and evaluate company data and processes to identify risk & opportunities for standardizing and streamlining processes across business unit.

· Strong working knowledge of US MCA (US, Mexico, and Canada) other Canadian Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and other Preferential Trade Programs.

· Influence business practices to implement and utilize automated solutions.

· Collaborate with various stakeholders (business unit management, department leadership, US Customs & Trade Compliance Manager) on cross company activities promoting process optimization.

· Identify, capture, collect, monitor key metrics (KPI’s) for development of business strategies and presentation to management.

· Develop, implement and enforce guidelines, solutions and plans in order to optimize processes in area of responsibility.

· Supports regular training to targeted business unit groups on import and export compliance topics.

· Implementation of Customs Compliance processes within the ERP/business unit

· Initiate Supply Chain (SC) related WAM projects by using Cost Deployment, QA Matrix, S-Matrix to determine the scope, objectives, KPIs, KAIs, B/C ratio, schedule, and necessary resources requirements.

· Monitors the completion of tasks and sustaining activities generated in project meetings to ensure successful completion of action items.

· Ensures WAM SC Site Pillar Board is updated monthly based on necessary templates and requirements.

· Provides updates at monthly and semi-annual WAM Steering Team - Americas meetings.

· Benchmarks industry best practices to identify future improvements and opportunities.

· Participates in semi-annual WAM Audits

· Utilize WAM best practices approved from global pillar teams.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree

· CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) or CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist) Certification Designation in good standing

· Minimum 5-7 years of business experience dealing in customer engagement, order fulfillment, and experience working with forwarding agents, customs brokers, and government agencies.

· US MCA and other Canadian Preferential Trade Programs.

· Direct experience with determining Canadian and US HTS classifications.

· Subject matter expertise on customs valuation and reconciliation requirements.

· Hands-on experience with ERP, preferably SAP.

· Strong written and verbal communication / interpersonal skills.

· Proficient in computer skills utilizing MS Office applications.

· Ability to work independently.

· Presentation skills.
