The Role: The Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Intern will support the implementation of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and contribute to enhancing our Data Privacy practices. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in Cybersecurity and privacy within the pet care industry, working closely with our IT, E-commerce, and legal departments.
Primary Responsibilities (If this looks enticing, click “Apply”!)
- Support the gap analysis process to identify areas of improvement in aligning with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
- Assist in organizing and conducting educational workshops on cybersecurity principles and Data Privacy best practices.
- Contribute to reviewing and updating cybersecurity policies, procedures, and privacy policies to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
- Participate in data mapping and inventory projects to identify and classify sensitive and personal data across the organization.
- Help develop training materials and resources for staff on handling personal and sensitive information securely and in compliance with privacy laws.
- Support the development and refinement of incident response plans for cybersecurity incidents and Data Privacy breaches.
What you bring to the table:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Law, or a related field.
- A strong interest in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy, with a willingness to learn about industry standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, GDPR, CCPA).
- Basic understanding of information security principles, data protection, and privacy practices.
- Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity software.
