Purpose:

As a Data Technology Strategist, this role will share insight and experience into data platforms, Data Architectures, and data product development technologies. This position will be support a data center of excellence that delivers data products and services to enable data access, analytics and data product delivery, which support data-informed decision making. This role works with other individuals within the Data Centre of Excellence Unit, and across the organization, to effectively deliver data products as enterprise data assets. The role focuses on enabling the delivery of data products and services using modern technologies and practices with agility and focus on business outcomes, innovation, and transformation to ensure data is treated as a corporate asset.
The position works with leadership and various stakeholders, including architects and external partners in supporting the enablement of the data ecosystem. This will include assessments, presentation, mediation and negotiation to/with clients, vendors, peers and decision makers in order to achieve consensus in understanding of complex data relationships.
The efforts of this role will improve access to and informed use of client's data assets both within and outside of enterprise in support of policy analysis, program planning, and decision-making. This role will require the ability to think and work tactically across the organization, as well as diving deeper into data topics related to Data Architecture, data platforms, data access, and data governance to support the client Data Strategy. The role supports Data Centre of Excellence Unit's data service delivery by working collaboratively with data product developers, Data Architects, data engineers and data scientists on variety of data initiatives to ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.
Duties:
General Responsibilities (any or all):

• Lead discussions, meetings and workshops, as needed, with leaders/staff, partners, stakeholders, end-users, etc. to understand business direction and enterprise data/information technology requirements and their value
• Design and deliver enterprise and solution technology architecture related to data platforms.
• Assess technical requirements for variety of business initiatives, and provide architecture expertise, consultation, and recommendation to colleagues and clients (e.g., decision-makers, project teams and stakeholders), as directed by management.
• Model Proof of Concept solutions in an agile environment, including integration and orchestration approaches to operate data products and services effectively and efficiently with available resources.
• Provide guidelines for technology adoption and implementation (i.e., cloud migration, application modernization, data modernization).
• Review solutions and designs of peers, including data models and pipeline design, and provide appropriate feedback including performance optimization.
• Provide thought leadership, and drive architecture and the design of Data Management & Analytics solutions.
• Understand business strategies and priorities and translate those into data technology architecture requirements that create high-value data product solutions.
• Plan, design and deliver digitalized, modernized and rationalized information management technology solutions that meet business needs in the context of the GoA data strategy, including Master Data Management (MDM), Data Quality, critical data identification & classification, security and access, data governance etc.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and applications to improve existing data product management, optimize costs, and reduce development time.
• Support the development and adoption of best practices in data management, which includes data governance, data sharing, data integration, data quality, common data and standardized methodologies.
• Guide consultation with clients and staff, as needed, on data services and provide leadership and direction on integration and pipeline design.
• Coach, mentor, and empower staff to use creative thinking and develop innovative solutions.
• Support a client centric and service-oriented spirit and delivery approach across the team.
• Support the cultural shift towards data as a strategic asset.
• Foster data solution innovation as well as continuous improvement.
• Ensure effective stakeholder engagement within the areas of responsibility ensuring an effective solution balance of enterprise and client centric needs.
• Initiate and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with various internal and external stakeholders across the organization.

Required Skills and Experience
Experience defining technical architecture, data integration, supporting software.
Experience designing, planning, implementing, supporting data platforms and data.
Experience in multiple architecture domains e.g. business, application, technology.
Experience - Client Management.
Complex Business Process Modelling.
Direct, hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis, solution.
Hands-on experience with design and implementation of data security, data.
Experience developing data technology roadmaps in support of a corporate data strategy.
Experience implementing enterprise data strategy and/or data governance.
Experience in facilitating meetings and communicating with senior management and project stakeholders.
Experience using Big Data platforms like Cloudera Data Platform.
Experience with Data Fabric and Data Mesh architectures.
Experience - Data Platforms.
Experience - Enterprise Architecture Frameworks E.g. TOGAF, Gartner or Zachman.
Experience providing leadership, planning, estimating and presentations of ideas and solutions.
Experience working in or for the Public Sector.
Experience in performing threat and Risk assessments and presenting recommendations for risk mitigation to senior management.
Experience developing and delivering training materials.
