We are seeking a transportation professional to lead the field operations component of our Mobility Monitoring team. This group contributes to customer service through the collection and processing of transportation data in the field.
As the Data Collection Supervisor, you will apply technical transportation skills while leading a team of field staff that includes permanent and seasonal field employees. This will include the annual recruitment and training of the seasonal field staff, coordinating field activities, and providing technical guidance in study design and fielding. There will be a requirement to be on call to respond to crew and study needs for all hours when studies are being undertaken. You will be responsible for budget control and tracking of costs of the crew. You will also be expected to manage equipment and vehicle maintenance and explore new Data Collection technologies to expand or improve the data being collection. Primary duties include:
- Build a cohesive team through developing working relationships within the team and providing a critical communication link between the field and office employees.
- Inspire innovative and creative opportunities as a member of the Transportation Data team.
- Demonstrate your experience and formal knowledge of statistics, information systems, traffic operations and study design.
- Plan and monitor the scheduling of employees for the timely and accurate collection of data that contributes to the completion of the Transportation Data annual work plan.
- Consult with customers and team members to manage expectations, make commitments to accomplish the work, and deliver data.
- A completed 2 year diploma in a transportation related field complemented by at least 8 years of experience in Data Collection and analysis including at least 4 years of supervisory experience.
- Previous experience in transportation planning or traffic operations would be an asset.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate others and collaborate across the organization.
- Critical thinking and ability to coach direct reports, identify and resolve issues, and respond to emerging challenges.
- Ability to build, maintain, and nurture relationships with other leaders is also essential.
