New Afton Mine
Situated 10 kilometers west of picturesque Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.
Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. About the Role
Schedule: Flexible schedule options available
Position Reports To: Database Exploration Geologist
Position Overview: The incumbent will be tasked with supporting all exploration activities under the direction of the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
Assisting with New Afton exploration database tasks and supporting all New Gold exploration database management
Administrative tasks in Ariba/SAP, including PR generation and receiving
Liaison with procurement and finance to track exploration expenditures and support exploration projects
Historical data compilations and interpretations
General clerical support for the Exploration team, including managing inventory and purchasing of office and geological supplies
As required support off site exploration field work logistics
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
Post-secondary education in science/ GIS/ technical certification or equivalent business experience
1-2 years of experience with Microsoft Access (relational) databases and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio basic queries
Organizational skill with a keen eye for detail
Experience working with geological, geochemical, and/or geophysical data
Strong suite of administrative, clerical, and fiscal management skills
Experience processing transactions using Ariba/SAP is considered an asset
Experience with DataShed, LogChief, MX Deposit and QGIS is considered an asset
Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, database, SQL server and GIS software
Demonstrated ability as a contributing team member
Demonstrate a strong ethical attitude, initiative and able to manage required level of responsibility
Strong proficiency in verbal and written communication and time management skills
Other Requirements
Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
Provide proof of a valid driver’s license
Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $65,000 to $85,000. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
