Great Big Theatre Company is looking for Theatre Coaches for its March Break Theatre Arts Day Camps programs for 2024. There are approximately 25 positions available for the week of March 11-15, at 13 locations in the GTA and southwest Ontario. This is a salaried position ideal for those who enjoy working with children and young people (ages 6 to 14) , and are qualified to do so, and who also have some theatrical experience. Completion of, or enrollment in, a university-level drama program is an asset, but not a requirement. A valid Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the past two years) is a requirement. CPR / First-aid accreditation is also an asset, as is having your own transportation.

The counsellors’ / theatre coaches’ role is to supervise all activities, ensure the care and safety of children attending, and so far as possible ensure that the camp is a positive experience for all. They will also be in charge of drama-oriented instruction and games and will help children prepare for an end-of-week performance. Hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, with extended hours a possibility. Pay is $ 18.20 / hr to $ 22.00 / hr, depending on qualifications and experience. A few supervisory positions will be available; these will require travel between locations, and your own vehicle (there will be an allowance for travel time).

GBTC, founded in 1994, is a non-profit children’s and young people’s theatre, based in Hamilton, which serves a large area of southwestern Ontario, and offers mainstage productions, as well as Tale Troupers traveling productions, TIES (Theatre-In-Every-School) in-school workshops, theatre classes, and summer and March Break theatre camps.
