Hours: Flexible; must be available for shifts between 7:15am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday and a
weekend in June for staff training.

Compensation: $17.30 per hour
Placement Date: June 15 – August 31, 2024

Nature & Scope: Inclusion Support Staff positions are intended to provide extra camper
behavioural support to front-line counsellors, by directly assisting campers who require
additional support to be successful at camp. In addition, these individuals will communicate
with parents and provide support to multiple campers who need additional support during their
week at camp.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing support to staff working with children with special needs

• Providing one-on-one support to children with special needs with a focus on inclusion

• Communicating with families of inclusion campers prior to their camp week to discuss

pick-up/drop-off times and strategies/tips for success

• Acting in a manner that is in accordance with the YMCA mission and vision

• Attending all staff meetings

• Contributing positively to a fun and valuable camp experience for all campers

• Maintaining a positive profile and building relationships within the community

• Leading and participating in all camp programming and special events
  

Qualifications:

• Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) including Vulnerable Sector Check completed not more

than 120 days prior to interview, with results acceptable to the YMCA of Eastern
Ontario. Those under 18 years of age will be required to sign a statutory declaration and
will not work unsupervised.

• Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience working with children with behavioural challenges or

special needs

• Studying and/or a background in child development, teacher’s college, child & youth

studies, autism & behaviour studies, inclusion support services, etc.

• Knowledge of strategies designed to promote inclusive environments and programs

• A high level of maturity

• Strong sense of responsibility
