Day Program Employee - Direct Support Provider

Full time - Direct Service Worker (Day Program Employee)

70-80 Hours Bi- weekly

Desired Qualifications

Inclined to work with people with intellectual disabilities

Positive attitude and team player

Must regard participants and co-workers with respect and dignity

Must adhere to the Agency Guide to the Vulnerable Persons Act

Must obtain a successful completion of Criminal Record & Child Abuse Registry Checks

Communication in English, both written and verbal

Good knowledge of French an asset

Emergency First Aid

Must have valid class 5 Driver’s License

Knowledge in Feeding/ feeding tube, Toileting, Wheelchair lift/Hoyer lift, Transferring would be an asset

Willing to work in all departments of the Day Program when needed (Woodworking/Recycling/Packaging/Sewing)

Duties

Provide support on a 1 on 1 basis or small group of individuals with intellectual disabilities

Help in the use of appropriate supports & resources needed for communication (reading/writing/use of communication devices) including proper use of the equipment

Ensure Health & Safety of individuals

Provide physical support in personal care & daily living skills (including toileting/feeding/attending to personal needs)

Must be able to take and apply directions given by the department lead hand and manager and implement them in daily tasks paying attention to details

Understanding of the need to prioritize work/contracts, and the personal goals and needs of the participants

Must be able to multitask and assist with other roles/jobs as needed

Report any work or participant related incidents to the manager

Abide by the WSHA safety regulations

Start Date: May 2023

Salary: Wages start at 19.00$/hr.
