We are looking for people to work at TCR as a Debt Counsellor. In this position, you will provide debt collection services for a variety of clients and portfolios and help Canadians restore their credit.
Please note that although this is a work from home/remote position, you must live within a reasonable distance of the TCR office in Laval QC in order to pick up and return the equipment assigned to you during the duration of your employment.
Responsibilities
• Contact consumers by telephone to negotiate payments for overdue accounts
• Assist clients by providing solutions to meet financial goals such as debt management
• Analyze and evaluate the financial situation, credit and repayment capacity of the consumer
• Perform initial screening work using online tools and in-house systems
• Follow regulations and guidelines according to provincial and federal laws and client-specific guidelines.
• Negotiate professionally and respectfully with the consumer and explore sources of funds to determine the best possible arrangement
• Complete credit and loan information
• Clearly and concisely document the details of each call
• Request statements on overdue accounts and forward irreconcilable accounts for legal action
• Review and update credit and loan files • Other tasks assigned
Requirements
• Experience in a call center environment is an asset
• Good communication skills – both verbal and written
• Good listening skills
• Good negotiation skills
• A compassionate and empathetic approach
• Be able to maintain an objective/non-judgmental stance even when speaking with clients in emotional/difficult situations
• Good knowledge of computers and office software
• The ability to achieve performance objectives
• Be able to work rotating shifts (evenings and/or weekends)
