TITLE:
Driver
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The driver is responsible for picking up and delivering products to customers, loading and unloading. And also responsible for following applicable road, traffic and transportation laws.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Supervisor/Manager
DIRECT REPORTS:
None
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform simple vehicle maintenance (e.g., cleaning interior and exterior, taking vehicle for inspections, filling tires with air, etc.) to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition. Complete daily truck inspection report.
- Drive to and from multiple delivery destinations.
- Load and unload delivery goods.
- Lift packages and other equipment.
- Obey all traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
- Read maps and find the best delivery routes and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
- Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.
- Maintain records such as vehicle logs (including mileage and gas receipts), records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulations.
- Present bills and receipts, and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded ( when requested by company). Interact with customers to obtain , signatures and giving receipts.
- Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles.
- Other duties as assigned
- Pick orders, as per pick slips and preparing for delivery
- Maybe required to drive forklift truck. certification required
- When needed, pick orders ,receive shipments, load trucks, and move stock
- Ensure refrigeration unit is operating at all times when product is loaded to maintain good food distribution standards
OTHER KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Excellent driving skills and experience driving in a variety of weather and traffic conditions, coupled with a strong commitment to safe driving and handling of materials.
- An excellent driving record/history. Current driver abstract needed
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Punctual and stringent about timings to ensure no delay in deliveries.
- Ability to effectively read maps and follow directions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Clean, valid Class “G”driver’s license.
- Previous experience as a Delivery Driver is preferred.
- References - regarding work experience suggested
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Required to walk, stand, climb, bend forward, kneel down, crawl, reach and grasp, push and pull objects, lift and/or move up to 25 kg, sometimes over the shoulders, repetitive bending and lifting of items, along with repetitive arm movements. Occasionally required to use stairs
- SAFETY SHOES REQUIRED
- Required to drive a vehicle for extended periods of time. ( Monday to Friday)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
