Job Description: The Dental Hygienist specializes in assessment, planning/development, implementation, and research/evaluation, as it relates to the Dental Hygienist scope of practice in population health promotion and dental public health.
The position will also provide community and preventive dentistry diagnostic and clinical services to clients of the Oral Health Program (OHP).
The incumbent will work within the multidisciplinary team of the OHP and other programs/areas as required. A dentist is on contract to provide services as referred by the Dental Hygienist.
The Dental Disciplines Act (DDA) legislation governs scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Dental Hygiene Program with a diploma/advanced diploma of dental hygiene
Possession of a personal vehicle suitable for use in the performance of duties
Registration and full licensure with the Saskatchewan Dental Hygienists' Association
Valid driver's license and vehicle suitable for use in performance of duties.
Experience
Two years clinical experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to develop and present oral health education/training for clients, students and community groups
Ability to lead discussions and communicate development projects
Ability to use sound judgement in problem solving and decision making
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Comprehensive knowledge of oral health principles and their relationship to health and disease as they apply to the core competencies for dental public health practice
Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including electronic technological skills
