DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER
(Pay Band 5)

OPEN COMPETITION

CENTRAL OFFICE - FREDERICTON

The Department of Social Development is seeking an individual to join the Digital Transformation team as a Departmental Information Security Officer in its Central Office in Fredericton.

As a member of the Digital Transformation team, the responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:

  • Develop/implement/monitor Departmental Security policies, standards, and procedures;
  • Manage the Department's Security Incident process;
  • Ensure compliance with the Government Information Systems Security Policy; Conduct annual Departmental Security Health Checks;
  • Conduct Threat Risk Assessments on new and existing information systems;
  • Participate in Privacy and Business Impact Assessments on new and existing information systems;
  • Represent the Department on various committees and working groups, including the Departmental Information Security Officers working group; and
  • Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or in Information Technology or a related field and a minimum of six (6) years related experience; OR a two (2) year diploma in Information Technology or a related field and eight (8) years related experience. A working knowledge of information systems security and the ability to apply this knowledge is required. Candidate must be eligible to obtain Canadian Federal Secret Level 2 Clearance.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please indicate your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate experience in the following asset qualification:

  • Certification(s) in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL);
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP);
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM);
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA); and/or
  • Certifications in Technology and/or Security (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco).

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application the asset qualificationsin addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Work outside normal business hours and travel throughout the province may be required.

In order to be appointed, candidate must be willing to obtain Canadian Federal Secret Level 2 Clearance.

  • Knowledge of Research Methodologies; Principles, and Practices;
  • Written Communication; and
  • Presentation Skills.

Salary: $61,828 to $86, 372 per annum
