Designated Occasional Teaching Application
We are looking to hire Designated Occasional Teachers to support our schools with higher absences.
A Designated Occasional Teacher (DOT) is an Occasional Teacher assigned to a specific school location for daily Occasional Teacher work. The DOT is utilized to cover same day absences or to pay back preparation and planning time to permanent teachers. A DOT is assigned to support our schools with higher absences.
DESIGNATED OCCASIONAL TEACHER (DOT) POSITION(S) AVAILABLE
Geographical Location: Various Schools
Schedule: Full Time, 5 Days per Week
BENEFITS OF BEING A DOT:
Guaranteed work each day;
First day as a DOT will be a PD Day to complete Health and Safety Vector Training and Sex Abuse Training (OCT Program) that may be required;
Gain experience in various classrooms, schools and grade levels;
The use of a Chromebook for the duration of the DOT assignment;
Obtaining references for when you apply to LTO and permanent positions;
Ensuring our classrooms are not going unfilled.
DETAILS:
Designated Occasional Teachers (DOTs) are assigned to a designated elementary school to fill absences as directed by the school's administration;
In the event there is no assignment for a DOT on a given day at the designated “home” school, the DOT may be reassigned to another school within the family of schools;
At the discretion of the board, the DOT may be reassigned to a school in need on the morning of the assignment outside their family of schools district. Every effort will be made to reasonably redeploy DOTs within the district of the designated “home” school location;
DOTs are eligible to claim mileage on a monthly basis for travel when redeployed from one school to another.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing to teach all divisions
Must have access to a vehicle
PAY STRUCTURE:
Daily Certified Occasional Teacher rate of pay - $227.61 per day plus 4% vacation pay.
