Digitization Technician


Classification:
Full time, Permanent

Salary: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Location: Williams Lake, BC

The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, British Columbia and serves six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yuneŝit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox.


The Digitization Technician is a valuable member of the TNG radio department. They are responsible to research and record news and sports stories. Edit recording and publish them for on air use. Also, record, edit and publish any TNG events or news releases. Maintain radio online via communication with broadcast software supplier. Research broadcast software/ hardware for improvements. Knowledge of digitization equipment and how to use them.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Researching news and sports stories that are interesting for the audiences.
  • Writing scripts to be read for on-air use based off those stories
  • Recording and producing audio for on-air use.
  • Recording and producing audio ads/commercials for TNG events and news releases.
  • Scheduling playlists and media for radio software for On-air use.
  • Communication with radio software to maintain radio is on-line.
  • Maintain radio equipment and hardware in communities and in-town.
  • Knowledge of digitization equipment and how to use them to digitize analog media.
  • Works with elders to record original content.

Requirements:

  • Audio production skills – Adobe Audition, Audacity, Garage Band etc.
  • Being comfortable on the mic
  • Knowledge of radio software
  • Knowledge of digitization equipment and what digitizing analog media is.

Working Conditions:

  • Travel may be required.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required.
