Equity Research Analyst, based in Calgary, to join our Canadian Oil and Gas franchise, covering the small and medium cap publicly traded companies.
Specialist with deep connectivity and expertise of the Canadian O&G SMID sector.
Performs fundamental Equity Research on the Canadian O&G SMID sector, providing investment recommendations.
Generates proprietary fundamental analysis of the sector, industry, and stocks.
Writes research reports that span quick updates (INFacts) to deep dives on the industry and developments that will be critical to investment decisions in the future (INDepths and INFronts).
Communicates recommendations to sales, trading, management, investors, and other stakeholders.
Builds and maintains excellent financial models and industry databases, used to evaluate companies and market segments.
Conducts financial analysis of industry groups and individual securities including sophisticated valuation and analysis of financial statements.
Applies appropriate technical concepts and analyses to extract insights that leads to sophisticated industry and company analysis.
Develops and maintains superior relationships with financial & investor relations staff as well as c-suite of corporations covered.
Uses expertise in O&G to cultivate relationships and successfully represent BMO with new and existing clients.
Builds positive client relations through deep and comprehensive understanding of client needs and alignment of product and services.
Anticipates changes in client needs and provides strategic and creative solutions.
Identifies opportunities for increased efficiency and improved service to internal and external clients.
Considers risk, internal controls, and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures.
Identifies and acts on the delivery of meaningful revenue, cost reduction or capital optimization opportunities.
Qualifications:
Typically, over 7 years of relevant experience, that could include sell-side research, buy side PM, or relevant industry role, sell-side experience preferred.
Post-secondary degree in related field of study and: MBA or MFin and/or CPA and/or CFA charter are preferred.
Significant experience presenting views in written and verbal form with expert communication skills.
Deep understanding of securities analysts of O&G SMIDs and an expert in the sector.
Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge.
A team player, who excels at collaboration and has an entrepreneurial spirit.
