Director of Communications, Transformation Office

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and ambitious communications professional, with a passion for working at pace, who is eager to make an impact in a rapidly evolving tech company. This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead in our Office of Transformation's communication efforts, influencing how we convey the story of our journey to becoming a platform company and engaging our employees as the drivers of our strategic ambition. As the Director of Communications, you will play a pivotal role in giving voice to our strategy, crafting persuasive narratives that inspire, inform, and unify our Transformation team, while also collaborating on efforts with cross-functional teams across the company.

Responsibilities

Strategic Communication Support for Transformative Programs and Initiatives:

  • Lead communication efforts as the central point of orchestration for the cross-functional communications leads across multiple enterprise-wide transformational programs

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans that bring the vision, goals, and progress of our enterprise transformation to life

  • Maintain coordination across the bodies of transformation work; ensuring strategy, messaging, and activities are cohesive and provide stakeholders at all levels the information needed to stay informed and engaged

Executive Communications – Support for our Chief Transformation Officer:

  • Drive internal and external engagements that amplify the Chief Transformation Officer’s influence in support of the company’s strategic stories

  • Maintain the executive's messaging platform, execute communication programs, and collaborate across disciplines to maximize employee communications, social media, speaking opportunities, and media relations efforts for the CTrO

Functional Communications – Support for the Transformation Office:

  • Generate tailored content, maintain channels, and collaborate cross-functionally to reach diverse audiences, fostering a culture of performance, transparency, and collaboration

  • Partner with the Chief of Staff, TrO Content team, HR, and others to design and execute a compelling communication program for Transformation Office employees

  • Craft and execute an internal communication strategy that keeps employees informed, engaged, and motivated with the Transformation Office and across the enterprise

  • In partnership with the TrO Content team, lead functional forums/events (E.g. All-Hands meetings), and work to ensure access to and comprehension of the information employees need to perform in their roles

Additional responsibilities:

  • Cultivate relationships with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders

  • Collaborate across PR, AR, internal, executive, regional, and functional communication leads to drive a holistic communications program

  • Implement processes for long-term planning, content creation, and rigorous execution in Transformation communications

  • Be hands-on in all content creation for Enterprise Transformation communications

  • Establish KPIs and regularly assess and report on the impact of the communication efforts

  • Act as an individual contributor with outsized influence – listening, partnering, leading, and coordinating across various communication, change management, and cross-functional professionals

Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of Communications mastery, with a demonstrated track record of developing and steering communications programs in leadership roles

  • Significant experience in executive, internal, and transformational communications experience, ideally for a Fortune 500 company

  • A strategic thinker with a commanding executive presence, who can provide counsel on a large variety of issues, connect dots, and inspire trust and confidence in all interactions

  • A gifted storyteller and persuasive writer adept at embodying the voice and perspective of others while thinking through the audience motivations and experience to help them embrace change

  • An intellectually curious and passionate learner that is self-motivated to understand the “What” and “Why”, and delights in connecting new dots

  • Highly experienced in crafting executive content, presentations, messaging, and engaging social content

  • Demonstrates superior judgement, adept at balancing short and long-term priorities with disciplined precision

  • Skillful in harmonizing diverse perspectives and objectives, providing sound counsel, and delivering positive outcomes for all involved

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment, showcasing calm adaptability and a positive embrace of change as needed

The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

  • San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $179,000 to $304,000 per year

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
