Director of Curriculum and Instruction

The Richmond School District invites Expressions of Interest to the position of Director of Curriculum and Instruction – Learning Services. This is a new full-time, continuing position.
Reporting to an Assistant Superintendent, the Director of Curriculum and Instruction will provide leadership, vision, planning, management, and direction related to curriculum, instruction, assessment and other related areas of responsibility and support for the implementation of the Board’s Strategic Plan.
The role and responsibilities are expected to grow and evolve as the successful applicant moves into and develops the position in collaboration with other members of the senior team.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the senior and Learning Services Team to design and implement a cohesive, intentional district-level plan and supports in the areas of Curriculum instruction and assessment that align with the Board’s Strategic Plan.
  • Providing leadership and support to promote the use of effective, research based instructional practices to meet the needs of all students.
  • Promoting and supporting effective technology use to enhance student learning.
  • Lead and supervise district-based educational staff.
  • Lead, coordinate and support development and implementation of district initiatives in professional learning
  • Oversight and coordination of Montessori, IB/MYP programs
  • Oversight and coordination of early learning initiatives, programs and staff, including StrongStart and Kindergarten
  • Lead, coordinate and support development and implementation of district initiatives related to assessment and communicating student learning
  • Represent the district on internal and external committees in the areas as described above

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent experience in providing district level leadership in the development and implementation of effective instructional practices across curricular areas aligned with the British Columbia curriculum.
  • Recent experience in the development and implementation of current and innovative educational practices across curricular areas.
  • Experience providing leadership in development and implementation of district priorities and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate understanding of educational change, curriculum implementation, equity and inclusive learning, and integration of technology.
  • Demonstrate exemplary leadership, communication, presentation, and organization skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional growth both personally and in current leadership context.
