VMAC is seeking to expand our senior leadership team with a Director of Enterprise Excellence. The successful candidate will lead the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of business processes at an enterprise level. This is a hands-on role, with a focus on directing, coaching, and implementing Lean philosophies and tools. This role is also pivotal in providing leadership to implement and sustain the continuous improvement culture at VMAC. Working with cross-functional teams, you will identify, plan, implement, and measure improvement opportunities in alignment with VMAC’s guiding principal, core values, quality standards, and strategic initiatives.
This role will be responsible for developing and implementing strategy to improve enterprise efficiency and production capacity to support the growth objectives of the organization. The Director of Enterprise Excellence will additionally be responsible for analyzing and reporting on the success of implemented strategies and current organizational processes.
Responsibilities:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop the Lean strategy across the enterprise to ensure all objectives are met in the areas of safety, quality, profitability, waste reduction and team excellence.
  • Review, make recommendations, and implement business applications and systems to provide information and data to drive Lean system analysis and decision making.
  • Manage capital projects and organizational changes that support continuous improvement and organizational efficiency.
  • Develop, guide, and coach the use of metrics that directly support key objectives to measure and assess the success of Lean implementation within the organization.
  • Work to create an autonomous work environment where all coworkers feel safe and empowered to engage in continuous improvement activities on their own.
  • Provide mentoring and training to all levels of the operation on the use and practice of Lean methodology and tools.
  • Responsible for identifying, planning, and leading the execution of Lean transformation events targeted towards improving the plant’s performance on safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity (SQDIP) as well as establishing a solid foundation around 5S in the workplace with process, metrics, and ownership at all levels.
  • Create integrated enterprise plans for improving operational efficiency and effectiveness across departments, functions, and processes.
  • Recognize business needs and determine solutions to business problems at the business unit strategic level. Determine the best approach to create, maintain alignment, lead, and coordinate business unit wide improvement efforts for the work.
  • The ability to identify and analyze complex operational data from multiple disparate sources to synthesize actionable evidence of root cause or improvement opportunities.
  • Focus on business performance improvements that yield zero accidents, defect free products, on demand and on time delivery, at the lowest cost by partnering with the plant’s process owners and champions to drive results.
  • Act as a key driver of change across the organization, supporting management/cross functional decisions by communicating the plant-wide changes to coworkers and helping them to learn, understand, adjust, and grow with the business’ Lean transformation.
  • Drive agility by constantly upskilling coworkers, and by creating a climate across a meaningful portion of the organization conducive to "testing and learning".
  • Ability to make progress across multiple priorities by securing and deploying resources effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 10+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • A great sense of urgency when it comes to achieving goals and coming up with new ideas.
  • Quick decision-making skills and experience guiding and implementing continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expert proficiency in the use and implementation of Lean tools.
Business Process Reengineering, Lean Accounting, Total Quality Management etc.
  • Train and develop VMAC teams on Lean principles, tools, and culture.
  • Directive leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to delegate and follow up on deliverables.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification considered an asset.
  • Experience developing and conducting training programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Results focused idea generation with innovative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
  • A strong work ethic, high independent initiative, and a positive, collaborative, team-oriented attitude is required.
