Kelowna Gospel Mission (KGM) is a faith-based non-profit organization that is committed to feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and helping the hurting. Our services include outreach, case management, emergency shelters, dental clinic, thrift store, and supportive housing.
As a Dishwasher at KGM, you are crucial in supporting our kitchen operations. Your responsibilities include assisting with food preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and washing dishes. Your dedication ensures the smooth functioning of our kitchen and contributes to providing nutritious meals to individuals facing homelessness and the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Cooks in preparing ingredients, such as chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and assembling meal components.
- Follow recipes and instructions to ensure consistency and quality in food preparation
- Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment using approved sanitation methods;
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels of food supplies, cleaning supplies, and kitchen equipment;
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, equipment, and storage areas and adherence to health and safety regulations;
- Responsible for timely removal of garbage and recycling materials from kitchen and storage areas;
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve kitchen efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance the utilization of resources;
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Keen attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and cleanliness;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant platforms;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, encompassing active listening, conflict resolution, and negotiation, to build strong relationships within the team and with external partners.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly;
- Able to withstand extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions;
- This position is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (Vulnerable Sector)
