Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Leadership, Learning and Academic Excellence (SLLAE), the Distance Education LMS Analyst incumbent will manage LMS projects within the OntarioLearn (OL) environment using instructional design and project management skills to support a variety of stakeholders in the development of course materials. The incumbent will work collaboratively with subject matter experts in their subject areas to develop leading-edge, pedagogically relevant online learning opportunities. The incumbent makes recommendations regarding instructional design, implements sound instructional design principles, and develops instructions to address various learner profiles.
The incumbent is a key participant in the training and support of OL Subject Matter Experts, Facilitators to support the development and delivery of flexible learning opportunities and the development of quality instructional material. This role is also responsible for implementing, reviewing, and updating curriculum according to standards set by Quality Matters (QM), and the OntarioLearn Consortium. The incumbent also supports ongoing quality assurance processes for OL courses through participation in internal Comprehensive Program Quality Review (CPQR) and OL review processes, as well as ongoing cyclical reviews.
The incumbent manages multiple projects with shifting priorities and timelines related to the above- described responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • collaborate with the OL team in supporting OntarioLearn activity
  • collaborate on Learning Management System (LMS) projects including implementation, growth, sustainability, testing, and upgrades as required through the OntarioLearn consortium
  • support the creation and maintenance of OL LMS templates, in compliance with the OntarioLearn Consortium and QM standards
  • collaborate on the CPQR process for OL credentials
  • coordinating several time sensitive projects simultaneously, helping the OL team determine workload priorities, and document team progress
  • support web content for OL programming
  • deploy and monitor communications for OL programs/offerings
  • participate in development and implementation of new OL initiatives in collaboration with the OL team
  • participate in OL and College events as required, such as open house, seminars, information sessions
  • consult with facilitators/subject matter experts and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders, including the OL team to design and develop course content, interactive learning activities and evaluation/assessment strategies while meeting QM and accessibility standards
  • apply instructional design skills, teaching strategies, learning theory, and creativity throughout the design process to meet the desired learning outcomes
  • liaise with bodies governing quality assurance for OL courses using the established mechanisms, protocols, and procedures
  • create guidelines, resources, job aids, and training related to the implementation of project deliverables in the areas of program quality and student experience
  • participate in cyclical review of OL online courses to ensure ongoing course quality
  • provide coordination and technical assistance to OL facilitators/subject matter experts related to course development and revisions in terms of both instructional design techniques and technology support (LMS, course authoring tools etc.)
  • assess software, tools, and applications that can be used when developing learning materials

Qualifications

  • Completion of a three (3) year diploma/degree, or equivalent in Business, Education, Communication, or eLearning
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a variety of learning environments, technologies, and Learning Management Systems
  • Awareness of adult learning/instructional design principles is an asset
  • QualityMatters Training is an asset
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced spreadsheet and word processing skills
  • Aptitude for learning and applying new technologies
  • Experience working with customer relationship management (CRM) tools such as Constant Contact is an asset
  • Basic understanding of HTML/website maintenance is an asset
  • Experience supporting distance students and/or programming is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and individually with minimal supervision
