Position Overview
You’re a passionate advocate for safety, and understand how to design and maintain standards while working effectively to ensure the reliable operation of the electric distribution system. Your top-notch strategic thinking skills help you to identify and prioritize risks as you build out maintenance strategies, and you’re always analyzing processes and to find opportunities to streamline your work. We want someone like you to join as our Distribution Lines Engineer.  
In year 1, you will:
-Build relationships within the Distribution Engineering team as well as the Operations and Design group through project involvement and site visits.
-Gain an understanding of the standards, design criteria and materials associated with the distribution construction and maintenance. 
-Gain an understanding of the project management system and how projects are run within the organization.  Participate in the execution of the capital plan.
-Take on responsibility for large initiatives lead by the engineers within this group and get a better understanding of the grid modernization and innovation we are working towards.
 
In year 2, you will:
-Build relationships within our network of peer utilities.  Collaborate on topics that impact our utility and help us move forward.
-Champion initiatives and become a leader within the organization.
-Further your responsibility of large initiatives such that you are tabling ideas start to finish.
 
What it takes:
-Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, plus four to eight years of progressive engineering experience. Preference will be given to those applicants with previous distribution and utility experience.
-Professional Engineer registered or eligible to be registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
-Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and the application of its requirements.
-Demonstrated experience with provincial, national, and international codes, regulations, safety and standards, and distribution engineering and general engineering principles. 
-Proficiency with MS Office and MS-Project, design software such as PLSCADD.
