Distribution Work Planning & Process Coordinator, FTT (P3)

What you'll do
individual with demonstrated and proven communication, leadership, and cross functional relationship building skills to join
the team as a Distribution Planning and Process Coordinator at BC Hydro's Edmonds office in Burnaby, BC or an
alternative BC Hydro office depending on space availability and/or the current location of the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will have the necessary skills and is or will become a Subject Matter Expert in BC Hydro’s
Geospatial Information System (GIS), Spatial Asset Management (SAM), Steady State System (SSS), Maintenance Design
Tracking System (MDTS), and Passport and SAP Work Management systems as well as other applications that are used to
manage various distribution line assets and work programs.
Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists DASM Program Engineers with development, presentation and update of Distribution Maintenance Standards and
- Leads development and maintenance of business processes, business rules, and financial accounting for DASM work
- Works with DASM Program Engineers and Program and Contract Management (PCM) staff to establish the queries and
and during the fiscal year.
- Uses, loads, and leads maintenance and enhancement of SAM, SSS, MDTS, Passport, SAP and any other business
- Leads the review of monthly work program progress as reported by PCM. Reports on progress of the long term work plan
Maintenance and End of Life Capital work programs based on detailed input from PCM.
- Quality checks GIS, SAM, SSS, MDTS, Passport, and SAP data to ensure entries, data and charging for work programs
- Departmental Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SAM and member of SAM Technical Working Group.
- SME for querying/reporting/analysing SAM/GIS data and developing SAM work templates for work programs.
- Departmental SME for BC Hydro’s Distribution Analysis and Design (DAD) and member of DAD Technical Working Group.
- Ensures GIS data model changes coordinate and align with Asset Planning business goals
- Produces monthly reports for outstanding SAM Action Requests and Data Corrections
- Manages graffiti policy, annual graffiti grants to municipalities and the ad hoc escalation in graffiti complaints from the
- Acts as advisor and BC Hydro representative for Legal claims pertaining to maintenance and replacement of assets on the
What you bring
- Minimum 8 years knowledge and experience in the design, maintenance and/or construction of an electrical utility
- Possesses a Diploma of Technology, Bachelor’s Degree or proven work experience directly related to the duties of this
- Ongoing development such as self-study, attendance at technical and administrative courses and participation in technical
- Excellent communication, technical writing, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Proficient in using enterprise business systems including work management and GIS applications. This includes but is not
- The preferred candidate would also have: experience in the design and development of maintenance standards and
the ability to perform technical research and provide reliable advice on difficult problems which can augment the
departmental mandate; the ability to prepare and interpret engineering plans and specifications; strong knowledge of
industry standards and a keen asset management business acumen; and experience in risk and hazard evaluation.
