Job Title: Barista

Job Status: Permanent

Joining Bonus: $500 ($200 on joining + $300 after completing probation)

Start Wage: $18.23 per hour to $18.73 per hour (1yr) + a comprehensive extended health benefits package

Summary of Position:
To represent the Inn at Laurel Point in all guest interactions as “A refined coastal experience in a waterfront city setting, guided by sincere, friendly service, to create remarkable memories.” The Duo Barista is responsible for preparing and serving hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea while ensuring quality service and guest satisfaction is maintained.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers as they enter and provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service
• Provide information about food and beverages to guests and answer their questions regarding ingredients and preparation methods
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Prepare food and beverages following recipes
• Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and sandwiches
• Has good working knowledge of POS systems and payment machines in order to provide efficient and accurate ordering and billing
• Maintenance and up-keep of the space
• Maintain stock of dishware, glassware, and supplies
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
• Maintain knowledge of food & beverage menus, including features, kitchen glossaries and technique to deliver accurate information to guests and self-educates and acquires knowledge about food and wine
• Communicate effectively with guests, supervisors and co-workers using appropriate etiquette and language and works in cooperation and harmony with all colleagues, supervisors and other departments to execute duties and responsibilities with due diligence
• Has good knowledge of Inn facilities and city attractions for the benefit of enquiring guests
• Complies with the Inn at Laurel Point’s policies and procedures
• Complete side duties and all other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Previous work experience as a Barista is required
• Hands-on experience with coffee equipment
• Ability to work without constant supervision
• You speak clearly with good command of the English language (written and verbal) with ability to gauge customers’ preferences and offer suggestions
• Must be energetic, enthusiastic and team oriented
• You love chatting with people and possess an outgoing and confident attitude
• You demonstrate patience in all interactions
• You enjoy working in a respectful, positive, team-oriented environment
• FoodSafe Level 1 & Serving It Right is required
• Must be able to lift 30lbs on a regular basis
• Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends and statutory holidays
