As an Early Childhood Educator at our center you will be responsible for the physical, social and emotional needs of young children within the important framework that all children are: 1) recognized as inherently valuable 2) full of potential and 3) unique.
You will be responsible for the children's physical care and well being, ensuring that they are well supervised and safe. You will provide daily opportunities for emotional.social and intellectual development and will work together with other staff to create programming based around the children's interests. This includes setting up the environment with a variety of free play invitations as well as planning structured activities.
You will be expected to take an interest in the children's lives by being present with them and interacting with them in a variety of ways. Effective behaviour guidance techniques are required, and the recognition that every child is different and needs individualized love and care. Good communication is required with parents and other staff.
Reflection on your practice will be encouraged and you will be expected to document the children's learning. Outdoor play is an integral part of our programming, both in our yard as well as in the nearby woods.
Applicants must have a diploma in Early Childhood education as well as First Aid training. A child abuse registry check and a vulnerable sector check are also required.
Pay is determined by level of education and years of experience.
