The Conayt Friendship Society Aboriginal Head Start Program requires an Early Childhood Educator/Infant Toddler (ECE-IT). The ECE-IT is responsible for developing a program of structure and activities, as well as the daily operation of the infant toddler program.
General Responsibilities:
· Ensures all licensing requirements are met and maintained
· Develop daily/ weekly schedules
· Always supervises children
· Program planning
· Carries out program activities
· Ensures the environment is safe for children
· Daily inspection of playground
· Snack preparation
· General cleaning and tidying
· Daily briefing with parents regarding their child
· Records and reports any concerns to the appropriate persons
· Develop care plans with parents for any child needing extra support
· Keep a daily attendance log
· Maintain and update children's files
· Maintain and trust confidentiality in all aspects of the job
· Reflect the mission, values, and goals of the Friendship Society always
· Maintain professional standards of conduct, performance, and personal appearance
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Knowledge and awareness of Aboriginal cultures, and Friendship Centers
· Strong knowledge of child development
· Knowledge of the Aboriginal Head Start Program
· Knowledge of resources available for families
· Basic administration and computer skills
· Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team
· Willingness for ongoing training
Professional Qualifications Required:
· Hold a valid Early Childhood Education /Infant Toddler Certificate
· Valid First Aid and Food Safe
· Previous experience working with children ages birth to six years
Other Requirements
· First Aid/CPR (Current – may complete upon hire)
· WHIMIS (Current-may complete upon hire)
· 3 Professional Reference (not family)
· Computer Skills (MS Word, Outlook, Excel)
· Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
