Salary Range
$83,313.86 - $95,028.49 annually, which includes a 3.3% temporary market adjustment, plus $43.17 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Mackenzie; $53.13 bi-weekly Isolation allowance for Fort Nelson; $36.53 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Smithers.

Job Summary

The Land Use Policy, Planning and Ecosystems (LUPPE) Division within the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is responsible for leading BC's land stewardship strategies, supported by science and knowledge, that promote and guide the province's goals for reconciliation with Indigenous Nations, ecosystem health and biodiversity, conservation of wildlife and habitat and economic diversity and sustainability.
The purpose of the position is todesign, communicate, guide and evaluate best practices regarding complex socio-economic and statistical analysis, and advise senior executives on matters directly impacting goals, objectives and financial commitments of natural Resource Stewardship initiatives. To design and implement quantitative and qualitative analytical frameworks to assess an array of Resource Stewardship and land use issues and scenarios in collaboration with economists across natural resource agencies, and to engage with internal and external natural resource professionals, Indigenous partners and stakeholders to confirm and enhance the integrity of the frameworks.
Job Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Economics or specialized field of economics or an equivalent Master's Degree or PhD in a closely related field, and two years of related experience*.

*Related experience must include:
  • Experience providing authoritative socio-economic advice and recommendations to senior managers and executives.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of quantitative and qualitative analytical frameworks, statistical analysis and economic modelling projects.
  • Experience conducting economic impact analysis and cost-benefit analysis.

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
  • Experience supporting multiple criteria decision analysis or multi-attribute decision making.
  • Experience conducting social impact assessments, Indigenous use studies, or evaluating human well-being indicators.
  • Experience understanding and reporting out on the effects pathways of the environment on community health and well-being.
  • Experience consulting, engaging and collaborating with Indigenous Peoples regarding program design, implementation and evaluation
