Job Summary
Apply your sound judgement and analytical skills in a key leadership role
The Health Sector Information Analysis & Reporting (HSIAR) leads key information management functions including data stewardship, governance, security, and access; analytics and reporting; and quality assurance, performance measurement, and evaluation functions. HSIAR governs secondary use data resources, while enabling timely and secure access to data, and supporting an integrated, modernized model of information sharing across the health sector. HSIAR leads the provincial analytic strategy and approach through analyzing, researching and evaluating health sector performance.
Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Economist designs and implements complex statistical analysis and economic modelling projects, and advise senior executives on matters directly impacting goals, objectives and financial commitments of a ministry or Government. As an Economist, you will consult with internal and external clients, and provide senior leaders with financial and economic data to support with strategic decisions.
Job Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Economics or a specialized field of economics and a minimum of one (1) year of *recent, relevant experience.OR
  • An equivalent Master's Degree or PhD in a closely related fieldand a minimum of 1 year of *recent, relevant experience.

*Recent relevant experience must include all of the following:
  • Experience in the design and implementation of statistical analysis and economic modelling projects.
  • Experience using relational databases, large datasets, and associated applications using SAS, SQL, R or other programming language for data extraction and statistical analysis.
  • Experience analyzing complex problems.
  • Experience in computer programming.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting the results of complex statistical and/or economic analysis through written summaries, reports and visual analytics, to senior management and executive.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
  • Experience in health economics or health statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in SAS.
  • Experience developing and implementing data collection, and database design.
  • Experience with Power BI or other visual analytics program.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).

About this Position:
There is one temporary opportunity until September 27, 2024.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
