What is the opportunity?

  • As an editor, you will provide support for global investment teams, by elevating and maintaining a consistently high standard with respect to client-facing written strategy pieces, portfolio reports, and financial market analyses, as well as ad hoc and thematic reports.

  • As a desktop publisher, you will be responsible for ensuring that RBC graphic standards are maintained.

What will you do?

Editor

  • Assist with editing and publishing content which can span from research and portfolio reports to global strategy and thought leadership pieces, ensuring overall readability as well as adherence to RBC Style Guidelines and compliance requirements.

  • When appropriate, proactively improve documents by restructuring the commentary (logical flow, word choice, minor rewriting, etc.) to make the content more reader-friendly, accessible, actionable, and engaging.

  • Provide hands-on suggestions to authors. Serve as resource and point-person to answer questions from authors about the process, content, style, compliance, etc.

  • Liaise with RBC Capital Markets supervisory analyst team and RBC Wealth Management compliance personnel on research-related topics.

Desktop Publisher

  • Lay out research reports using Adobe InDesign in correlation with RBC graphic guidelines using MS Excel for the manipulation of tables/charts.

  • Utilize Adobe Illustrator to create graphics.

  • Ability to work in HTML to support online publishing.

Both positions

  • Publish documents electronically for internal or external distribution upon receipt of required approvals.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Demonstrated experience and full proficiency in MS Suite

  • Attention to detail; excellent organizational skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to assume sole responsibility for tasks and projects and independently complete them as needed.

  • Ability to work with a global team and other teams within RBC. This role operates in a team-based environment where time-off requests must be discussed within team to ensure proper coverage.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry.

  • Prior experience in research publishing.

  • Prior editing/writing experience in the financial services industry.

  • Willingness to anticipate what must be done to ensure each step is followed for successful publishing of research materials.
