Job description

Dart Container Corporation founded and headquartered in Mason, Michigan, sets the Industry Standard of Excellence in the development, manufacture and distribution of innovative foodservice packaging solutions. Dart manufactures and markets cups, plates, containers, lids and straws made from plastic and paper across the globe. In Canada, Dart operates as Dart Canada Inc. headquartered in Toronto.
Coordinates, maintains, trains and provides oversight of environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs at a plant. 
Day-to-Day Role:
-Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements.
-Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards
-Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
-Assist EHS Manager in administering EHS programs
-Assist in developing training and ergonomic programs
-Deliver EHS training and new hire orientations for one or more of the following:  lock out / tag out (LOTO),
fire prevention, hazard communications, confined space entry, hearing conservation, EHS policies and procedures, or other training programs
-Assist in safety incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action
-Conduct inspections and audits, identify opportunities to improve, and make recommendations to improve or eliminate unsafe conditions or practices
-Track and maintain appropriate documentation, and complete reports  
-Collaborate with local Human Resources Manager in the administration of Worker’s Compensation and Early Return to Work Program.
-Coordinate all hazardous and non-hazardous waste storage, handling, and disposal
-Ensure procurement of proper EHS supplies including PPE
-May communicate directly with regulatory agencies
Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
-Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
-BS degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or other science field, or
style="list-style-type:circle"-
-Associate degree in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or other science field with two years of related experience, or
-High School diploma or equivalent with four (4) years of related experience
-Ability to utilize and train employees on technology, processes and procedures
-Experience in a manufacturing environment
-Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
-Strong written communication skills demonstrating the ability to prepare outlines, reports, letters, and any other supplemental materials in a clear and concise manner
-Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to modify basic reports, documents and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and SharePoint 
-Ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace procedures 
-Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
-Strong attention to detail and accuracy
-Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
-Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects and priorities
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
-Prior experience in handling compliance issues, OSHA/EPA programs, regulatory reviews, permit preparation, reporting and record keeping 
-Experience in evaluating/interpreting OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations and NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, ASME, BOMA and BOCA standards
-Experience with Federal, State and local Worker’s Compensation law and prior experience establishing proactive Ergonomics Program 
-Paper converting, chemical/plastics processing and packaging industrial experience
-Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification
