Job description

Position Summary

The Elders liaison is responsible for developing a good relationship with the elders in the community. This position will be working out of both the Tsay Keh Dene Nation’s Prince George Office; preferably 3 weeks in the community and 1 week in Prince George. The Elder’s Coordinator reports Director of Language and Culture. This position will be responsible for facilitating all Elder activities, programs and events. This will include setting and advertising meetings and updating elders on upcoming events, setting up elders’ meetings and informing elders of any Language and Culture activities in the community, in person, by mail or by delivering information to Elders. The Elders Liaison must be able to work within the community. Other related duties may be assigned by the Language and Culture Director.

Duties

  • Assist with scheduled activities and oversee communications within the Elder group and with Language and culture coordinator and the Tsay Keh Dene Community.
  • Oversee all Elders participating during activities, programs, and/or events to ensure safety and also encourage cultural and traditional engagement
  • Assist with Elder outings, activities and groups.
  • Track and report the Elders’ Activities, and Programs.
  • Manage and oversee the filing of all appropriate documents and record systems

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in a related field is a strong asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft excel and word
  • Current CPR and First Aide certification
  • A valid Driver’s License is required willing to get a class 4
  • Able to travel with Elders and volunteers for field trips

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Prince George, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
