Job description

INEOS Calabrian is a leading supplier of sulfur dioxide and related derivatives used in water treatment and other applications. The Company manufactures sulfur dioxide and downstream derivatives such as, sodium bisulfite, sodium metabisulfite and sodium thiosulfate and serves markets in North and South America. Its products are used in industrial water treatment applications as well as other specialty applications in mining, personal care, pulp and paper processing, food preservation, and oilfield production.

As a key member of the INEOS Calabrian team, the E/I Technician is accountable to meet the company’s production goals and participating in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the plant. The E/I Technician reports directly to the maintenance coordinator and is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the plant, working an 8- or 10-hour day shift schedule, determined by INEOS to ensure maximum efficiency, production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

This position requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following and practicing the INEOS 20 Principals of Process and Behavioral Safety and the INEOS Group Lifesaving Rules on a daily basis, as they apply to the position. These Principals and Rules are posted within each INEOS Calabrian facility.

  • Implements effective troubleshooting and repair practices, and preventive and corrective maintenances for plant Electrical and control equipment.
  • Participates in installing all instrumentation and electrical components safely
  • Maintain, modify and troubleshoot , networked operating systems, variable frequency drives and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to maximize use of control technology and minimize installation and operating costs.
  • Is able to read P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings;

interprets electrical diagrams.

  • Installs, troubleshoots and maintains end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process

controls, stations and substation, variable frequency drives, motor valve operators / actuators, tank gauging systems, metering equipment, etc.

  • Works closely with operations to optimize and streamline the process.
  • Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner by practicing the guidelines set forth in

the plant policies and procedures.

  • Ensure all electrical maintenance activities of this position are carried out in full

compliance with applicable safety/environmental laws and regulations.

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient electrical maintenance of the operating unit
  • Read, interpret, and follow process drawings and maintenance manuals to repair

equipment as per manufacturers specification

  • Read, interpret, and follow oral and written instructions such as equipment

manuals, blue prints, operations' guidelines, plant orders, standard operating conditions, and operating procedures in order to properly maintain safe and efficient operation of the unit.

  • Operate mobile equipment such as, but not limited to the Telehandler and

Manlift

  • Keep work area clean and orderly in order to prevent safety hazards
  • Reports process or equipment problems to supervisor; performs extensive troubleshooting and creates recommendations based on observations with regard to

plant maintenance and reliability.

  • Implements effective troubleshooting and repair practices, and preventive and

corrective maintenance for the plant.

  • Troubleshoots problems with control systems, storage facilities and pump stations.
  • Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments: Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Responsible for inspection and operation of equipment.
  • Performs Instrument tasks and electrical duties.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and

regulations.

  • Ensure all activities of this position are carried out in full compliance with applicable

safety/environmental laws and regulations.

  • ·Assists in the safe operation of the plant and assists both operations staff and other tradesmen with various tasks when required.
  • Require completing and verify all prescribed documentation
  • Assist with controlling maintenance spending to meet budget.
  • Assures all “Standard Operating Procedures” ensuring all SOP’s are accurate while

considering safety aspects involved.

  • comply with the Process Safety Management System.
  • May be required to participate in conducting “Root Cause Analysis” of equipment failures and in implementing changes to reduce them.
  • Assist with resolving reliability issues, including regular participation on teams.
  • Other duties as may be required.

Level of education & Experience in general

· Requires 2 + years of experience in industrial plant environment performing complex E&I

inspection, repair and installation of equipment plus knowledge of chemical process safety, equipment, and personal protection.

· Position is subject to 24 hour call out.

· Electrician Red Seal Qualification preferred (309A, 442A)

· Instrumentation Technician Certification and / or Red Seal Required (447A)

· Proven communication and inter-personal skills

· Ability to maintain accurate written records and documentation

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

· Strongly prefer experience relevant to closed processes, and related industry such as

· chemical manufacturing, mining, water treatment, etc.

Technical skills

· Requires a certificate in Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

· Experience with Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation Equipment.

· Process Calibration and Hart Communication Equipment

· Studio 5000 and FTView Studio Experience Preferred
