Purpose of Position:
The main purpose of this position is reading schematic drawings to assemble wiring, switches, cables, and other mechanical or electrical pieces. Work on electrical and mechanical components that are designed as a power point for operating electronic or technological equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret and work from electrical schematics to assemble control panels accurately.
- Skillfully lay out panel back plates, ensuring precise measurements and alignment.
- Utilize appropriate tools and equipment for drilling and cutting holes necessary for the installation of electrical devices.
- Mount and wire a variety of electrical devices, including switches, relays, circuit breakers, and meters.
- Cut, strip, bend, and mount wires to connect electrical units within the panel box.
- Ensure that wiring follows established electrical codes and standards for optimal safety and functionality.
- Efficiently document materials on Work Orders, maintaining accurate records of components used in panel assembly.
- Collaborate with supervisors to receive detailed work instructions and clarify any queries.
- Take charge of inventory management for active jobs, controlling the inflow and outflow of stock and creating records of material use, ensuring availability for ongoing projects.
- Execute Epicor order entries for inventory control, and part reordering.
- Ensure the workshop is well-stocked with the necessary tools and materials, organizing them for easy accessibility.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the work area, promoting a safe and organized workspace.
Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Further education related to this position is considered an asset but is not necessary.
Specific Skills/ Experience:
- Experience in panel building/electrical assembly or a related field is considered an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and some electrical knowledge would be an asset.
