The Position

We’re on the hunt for an Electro-Optical Engineer at the Engineering or Sr. Engineering level in Laser Optics/ Optical System Design on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.

With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.

As a member of our Engineering team, you will work in the Logistics & Sustaining Engineering (L&SE) program (to support On-Orbit Space Station activities), and/or Gateway External Robotics System, and/or R&D activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and create visible and IR LIDAR systems and/or similar optical systems and/or camera systems
  • Perform optical design and analysis (Tolerances, vignetting and stray light analysis)
  • Perform optical test and/or calibration
  • Develop / manufacture/ assemble specialized alignment and test equipment
  • Perform integration and testing of optical systems (incl. ordering, optimization and inspection of optical and opto-mechanical components)

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) degree is required
  • 4-8 years of professional experience in Laser Optics is required
  • Experience using Zemax or similar optical design tools is an asset
  • Experience in nonlinear optics is an asset
  • Eng, MASc, or PhD in Engineering is an asset


Requirements:

Interested candidates must possess a Bachelor degree in Aerospace, Engineering or Physics/Applied Mathematics or Engineering Science. A Masters or PhD degree is a valued asset.
The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to work in a team environment.

 

Comments/Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the SECRET status level II, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
