As an Engage Planner, you will be responsible for developing engagement strategies and plans, leading implementation of engagement activities, analyzing feedback and creation of related reporting. Primary duties include:
  • Provide strategic counsel to Project Managers, Communicators, Managers, Directors, General Managers and Members of Council.
  • Provide leadership in identifying opportunities for meaningful public input on projects.
  • Develop engagement strategies, budgets, implementation plans and ongoing reports to successfully execute and manage diverse corporate engagement projects.
  • Assess and improve the engagement process and knowledge of engagement within The City of Calgary.
  • Contribute to the Engage Resource Unit (ERU) work plan deliverables and provide updates to ERU leadership.
  • Provide written and verbal progress reports on engagement initiatives including: engagement feedback, emerging issues, relevant risk mitigation and emerging themes from input.
  • Prepare facilitation guides, host event briefing sessions for team members, mentor staff on facilitation and de-escalation techniques and conduct facilitation of small and large groups in a variety of settings and on diverse topics.
  • Collaborate with communications/marketing staff to prepare for and promote engagement events.
 
Qualifications
  • A completed 2 year diploma in communications, public relations, social sciences, community development, planning, public policy or a related discipline and at least 8 years of experience in an applicable field; OR
  • A degree in communications, public relations, social sciences, community development, planning, public policy or a related discipline and at least 6 years of experience in an applicable field.
  • Previous public engagement experience is preferred.
  • International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) training will be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires effective critical thinking, interpersonal and customer service skills along with strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be politically sensitive and respond to multiple and conflicting priorities.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $44.20 - 59.09 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
