Reporting to the Senior Leader, Business Development at Technical Services, Richmond (TSR), the Engineer-in-Training, Processing will participate in the Technical Services Processing group’s Engineer-in-Training program. Successful applicants must be available to participate in multi-year rotating placements across Teck sites over the course of their development. Successful applicants must be graduating or have recently graduated with an engineering degree and available to work beginning June 2024. Placement positions include various Teck sites, including at technical services facilities in Trail, British Columbia and Coquitlam, British Columbia. Later rotations may include operating mine sites in other locations. Process engineering and/or mineral processing career education and aspirations are an asset.

 

The Engineer-in-Training, Processing will be responsible for the following:

 

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Participate in technology screening, and bench and pilot plant development, planning, and execution
  • Participate in plant trials or campaigns focusing on the implementation of new processes or technologies, process optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Perform operational roles at Teck’s commercial mining operations
  • Ensure that all engineering work performed is of quality required to meet project objectives for safety, technical quality, and operability
  • Register with EGBC as P.Eng. as soon as eligible.

 
Qualifications:

  • Materials, Chemical, or Process Engineering Degree
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to easily integrate into a cross-functional team
  • Proactive approach and willingness to learn
  • Enthusiasm to learn about, and contribute to, Teck’s diverse commercial activities and technical development programs

 

The Technical Services Processing group focuses on sustainable internal Teck support. Services include research and development, technical project management, assessments of emerging technologies, performing business case assessments of existing opportunities, bench and pilot scale testing, value assessment, and operational support for water treatment activities. Significant travel and schedule mobility is required for this position.

Salary Range: $87000.0 - $89000.0

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
