The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced online English Language instructor to teach beginner-level English classes to a group of students whose primary language is Spanish. The classes will be focused on the theme of “working in Canada”

The ideal candidate will have experience with teaching online and delivering interactive and engaging virtual content. The ideal candidate will also be passionate about teaching and adopt a student-centred approach when working with Newcomers and learners from diverse backgrounds. A fluency in Spanish is essential for the role in order to support learners with minimal English skills.

The key areas of responsibility are:

  • Develop and prepare clear instructional objectives and well-structured lesson plans that align with the program's curriculum
  • Adjust curriculum as needed to address the learning needs of the students
  • Deliver engaging and student-centered lessons beginner- level learners, using appropriate teaching aids and supplementary materials
  • Regularly monitor and record student progress to ensure continuous improvement, and provide timely feedback and support.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks, including attendance records and cohort reports.
  • Collaborate with other program staff coordinators to enhance teaching strategies and materials.
  • Stay up to date with the latest educational technologies and teaching methodologies.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • TESOL certificate approved by the Canadian Registry or TESL certification from a TESL Canada recognized training institute.
  • Minimum of 3years of online teaching experience, demonstrating proficiency in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLBs) will be a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to create teaching materials aligned with the curriculum and tailored to diverse student needs.
  • Proficiency in facilitating group discussions and fostering problem-solving skills in an online learning environment
  • Proven initiative-taking capability and self-motivation.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in Spanish
